Galega or goat' s rue or french lilac or Italian fitch
Galega has been used from the Middle Ages to treat diabetes as the use of this herb reduces blood sugar levels. In particular, it decreases cellular resistance to insulin and allows cells to effectively use insulin in glucose metabolism. It also reduces the absorption of glucose from the small intestine. It prevents the formation of glucose in the liver and helps people who do not use insulin to maintain blood glucose levels.
Galega promotes the production and flow of milk in nursing mothers. It is forbidden to use this herb during breastfeeding without the permission of a doctor.
