Rosehip oil (Dog rose) for external use
Rosehip oil is produced by the method of cold pressing of the fruit of the plant, also known as dog rose. Rosehip oil is rich in linoleic and alpha-linoleic acid. It also contains palmitic, stearic and oleic acid as well as vitamins A and C.
Rosehip oil is rich in vitamin C and has strong antioxidant and anti-aging action. Rosehip oil combats oxidative stress and eliminates the free radicals that cause the destruction of cells leading to premature aging of the skin. Vitamin C promotes the production of collagen, which helps reduce wrinkles, fine lines and age spots. Vitamin C can additionally accelerate wound healing and combat dryness of the skin. Rosehip oil penetrates deep into the skin, locks in moisture, tightens the epidermis and provides elasticity to the skin. It also shields and protects the skin from UV sunlight. Vitamin A contained in wild rosehip oil helps to reduce hyperpigmentation due to excessive amount of melanin in the skin.
Rosehip oil has astringent action and tightens the pores of the skin while at the same time its anti-inflammatory fatty acids and vitamins A and C make this oil ideal for eliminating facial scars such as acne scars.
You can make your own handmade facial serum to take advantage of the antioxidant and anti-wrinkle properties of rosehip oil. Use 20ml of rosehip oil in combination with 5ml of nutrient jojoba oil, 5ml of carrot seed oil (which also offers elasticity to the skin) and 5ml of evening primrose oil (known for its anti-wrinkle action) and add 12-15 drops frankincense essential oil (which reduces the appearance of wrinkles, age spots and scars). Use this precious serum on clean face at night, and allow it to work all night while you sleep.
