Dictamnus or cretan dittany is consumed to heal conditions of the stomach and intestine. It acts as a spasmolytic and healing remedy and relieves pain in the stomach. It fights pests and worms.
Dictamnus has diuretic action and fights kidney stones. It also has antibacterial and antifungal properties and is used to fight bacterial and fungal infections both internally and externally and reduce the fever they cause.
This particular herb can be applied on the skin to treat dermatoses such as psoriasis and eczema but also to heal skin wounds.
Dictamnus increases blood flow in cases of amenorrhea. It strongly and directly stimulates the uterine muscles and therefore it is forbidden to use it during pregnancy as it can cause abortion.
Its analgesic action makes dictamnus effective against headache and toothache. It also relieves pain from rheumatic diseases.
Dictamnus is also used in cases of nervous disorders as well as for the treatment of epilepsy.
